  1. For the Mediated America trivia list, I pretty much either went to one side of the spectrum or the other. I'm curious to know the answers of most of the questions, though. It surprises me that most of those questions are even asked as trivia questions in the first place. Isn't equality among gender/race supposed to be advancing? Judging by the options given for answers, seems like that's not the case. It's sad, really.

  3. Yep, ditto. As I posted over on the quiz, I am sure that I underestimated by a lot. What kind of world are we living in?

The factoids in Dr. Ted's rant are pretty fascinating too. 3,518 hours of mass media consumed every year? I'm fairly certain there is something better we could all be doing with our lives.

  4. After completing the readings for the week I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by how many issues we can be torqued about. The Mediated America quiz presented a lot of ideas that I hadn't examined in-depth, but what really got me was in our Detecting Bull readings. I work with so many people that are completly closed minded to issues we face in the world and yet they have no desire to search out truth. They only look for information that fits into their opinions that they've developed with all the bias you could stand. I'm excited to read more of the text and be able to cut through all the "B.S." as McManus puts it and hopefully educate those around me on how to properly disect the information in the media.

  5. I agree Steve it is interesting to think we live in a world with incredible technology and ways to gain information about what is going on with our world and yet when you talk to the majority of US citizens they do not have a clue about what is going on around them. It is almost impossible to get into a political debate without someone going more off their feelings then they do facts. Shouldn't it be our duty as a US citizen to stay informed about what is happening in our own country.
